1. Do I need snorkeling experience to go out on the Lani Kai II?

No. Our captains and crew are highly experienced in snorkeling instruction and are well-equipped to assist beginners. We design our excursions to accommodate guests of all ages and skill levels, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for everyone.

To further enhance your comfort, we offer onboard snorkel training for those who may desire it. We are committed to ensuring that all guests feel confident and secure while exploring the beautiful waters of Molokini, Coral Gardens, and Turtle Town. In addition, we provide a variety of flotation devices, including boogie boards and noodles on the Lani Kai II, to offer extra support and assistance as needed. We aim to facilitate a delightful and memorable snorkeling adventure for all our guests!

2. Can I bring my baby or young child on a Maui Snorkeling Tour?

Aboslutely! We welcome families aboard, and children aged 3 and younger are ALWAYS FREE with Maui Snorkeling! While smaller, more specialized dive or snorkel vessels may have restrictions regarding young children and infants, the Lani Kai II is a spacious, 53-foot, family-oriented vessel designed with everyone in mind.

We offer ample comfortable seating, shaded areas for relaxation, and a variety of engaging amenities, including a 25-foot waterslide, boogie boards, swimming noodles, flotation devices, and convenient ladders for easy water access. And, of course, we believe in providing a complete and enjoyable experience, so a delicious meal is included at no additional cost on every Maui Snorkeling tour. We look forward to creating wonderful memories with your family!

3. How often do people get seasick on the Lani Kai II?

While we haven’t conducted any official sea-sickness surveys, we can happily say that most of our guests have smooth sailing! Of course, Mother Nature can throw us a curveball now and then, and during particularly windy periods, we might see a few more folks feeling a bit queasy. But that’s definitely not the usual experience!

Generally speaking, our mid-sized vessel, the Lani Kai II, offers a more stable and comfortable ride than the smaller boats you might find in Ma’alaea Harbor. So, you’re more likely to enjoy the underwater wonders than battling the waves with us! We always keep a close eye on the conditions and prioritize your comfort so you can focus on having a fantastic time! For more information about seasickness, check out our blog here!

4. Can I bring my own sunscreen?

Absolutely, you can bring sunscreen! However, it has to be reef-friendly. We’re deeply committed to protecting Maui’s beautiful waters and the environment as a whole, so we’re all about keeping our marine friends safe!

To make things easy, we provide several containers of reef-friendly sunscreen right on board the Lani Kai II, and you’re more than welcome to use it. We also offer sun shirts for purchase, which are fantastic for shielding you from the Maui sun.

6. Do you serve alcohol, and how much does it cost?

Alcohol is BYOB and can be consumed after water activities have concluded!

7. Do you have a slide?

You bet! The Lani Kaii II features a 25-ft inflatable waterslide that both adults and kids can enjoy! We’re also stocked with all sorts of water toys! Along with the snorkeling gear, you’ll find boogie boards, swimming noodles, and flotation devices, all ready for you to enjoy at no extra charge.

8. How long are your Maui Snorkeling Tours?

We’ve got two different snorkeling adventures waiting for you! In the morning, we set sail for a 5-hour tour to explore two incredible spots: the world-famous Molokini Crater and Turtle Town, where you’ll likely see many sea turtles! Then, in the afternoon, we offer a 3-hour tour of the stunning Coral Gardens, a fantastic spot for snorkeling amongst vibrant coral reefs.

9. Is your boat crowded?

Our Molokini Snorkeling Tours are incredibly popular and fill up quickly during vacation weeks! To guarantee your spot, we recommend booking early. For a more serene experience, our afternoon tours are generally less crowded. For the ultimate indulgence, our private charters provide an exclusive and unforgettable Maui adventure.

10. Do I need to know how to swim?

While being comfortable in the water is definitely a plus, don’t worry if you’re not! We’re here to support you. We’ll start with a Snorkeling 101 briefing to get you comfortable, and we’ll always have flotation devices on hand. We might also suggest specific snorkeling areas based on your comfort level. We want everyone to have a safe and fun time snorkeling with us on the Lani Kai II!
