Safety, Swimming Ability, & Masks

No, snorkeling experience isn't required. You should be comfortable in the water and able to float face down. Our crew provides a quick lesson, helps fit your gear, and offers flotation options.

You don’t need to be an expert swimmer, but you should be comfortable in deep water and able to stay calm while floating face‑down (with flotation if needed). If you can't swim at all or you panic with your face in the water, snorkeling may not be a good fit.

Most guests have smooth sailing. If you’re prone to seasickness, take your preferred remedy before check‑in and plan to stay hydrated and in the fresh air.

No. Full‑face snorkel masks aren't allowed on the Lani Kai II for safety reasons. We provide standard snorkel gear at no additional cost.

Many kids and seniors snorkel with us and do great. All participants should be comfortable in the water, and we provide flotation options. Children must be accompanied by an adult who is responsible for them at all times.

The Boat, Slide, & Where We Snorkel

Yes. The Lani Kai II has multiple shaded areas so you can get out of the sun.

Yes. The Lani Kai II has two clean restrooms onboard.

Yes, our boat has a 25‑ft inflatable waterslide. The slide is used at select stops when conditions allow (but not at Molokini Crater).

The morning tour has two stops: Molokini Crater first, then Turtle Town (conditions permitting).

The afternoon tour typically visits Coral Gardens (or another nearby reef) for one snorkel stop.

Typically about 45 minutes, depending on ocean conditions and departure.

Afternoon tours don't go to Molokini unless weather/ocean conditions permit. On rare days when the afternoon tour visits Molokini, it becomes a snorkeling‑only trip, and the waterslide stays packed away.

Wildlife & Ocean Etiquette

You might see sea turtles, whales, and more, but wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. During whale season (December–April), humpback whales are sometimes visible while we travel to and from our snorkel locations.

Please give turtles space, at least 10 ft (3 m) away, and never touch, chase, or block their path.

Accessibility & Special Requests

Yes, please give us advance notice if you’ll be bringing a service animal. Space is limited, so our reservations team will help plan for a smooth experience.

No. We don't offer SNUBA. Our focus is guided snorkeling with gear fitting, instruction, and flotation options.
